The Masculine Style Mystery

Often, when trying to describe the our design style, CP will throw out the word masculine. “Casual sophistication with masculine undertones” is a commonly uttered phrase.

Sure, that sounds good, and it looks pretty great, too. The problem is: everyone seems to have a funny definition of what “masculine” design means. I’m starting to wonder if they go instantly to frat houses and red plastic cups or if it’s more complex than that. To some, masculine means industrial or it’s a blanket ban on pinks and purples. To others it might be a streamlined design full of clean lines (as opposed to a French-style piece that, if we were trying to make a point (and we are), can only be described as curvaceous).
